Japan to mull new guard unit for nuclear plants

Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said March 14 that the government will consider establishing a new police unit 警備隊 in charge of protecting the nation’s 専従の nuclear power plants.
Kishida’s remark 発言 comes in the wake of ～を受けて Russia’s attack in early March on Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia ザポリージャ原子力発電所 nuclear power plant, in which Russian forces fired 攻撃したheavy weapons 重火器 in the direction of the plant’s reactors. 原子炉 の方向へ
Kishida indicated ～を示した he wants to discuss strengthening 拡大 nuclear plant security through the expansion of the proposed specialized police unit rather than using the Self-Defense Forces.
